Looking for Vaughn of VA USA

Journal by 21179020

I know that Joseph Vaughn was married to Nancy Ann Johnson or Johnston in the late 1700s.

Their daughter also named Nancy Ann married Thomas B. Thacker in 1830's; they moved to Vinton County Ohio. Her brother Pascal Vaughn accompaned them to Ohio but later returned to VA.

I have researched and found Thomas B. was from St Thomas VA, but see nothing new regarding this on Thackers. I assumed that Vaughns would be nearby for relationship between Thomas and Nancy to occur.

During the Civil War, Pascal and his son (Franklin I think) fought for Mosby's (sp) raiders. This has been verified via listing of his raiders in a book printed in the late 1800s.

Thomas B. and Nancy Ann had a son named Pascal, this is my g-grandfather. They had many children (Harland, Oscar, Ida, Minnie), one of which is Jasper W. who is my grandfather.

Sorry I can't help you with Vaughn, but the Bolar name got my attention.

Facts from an obituary notice dated 2-15-08:

Ruth Bolar died at age 76. She had lived in Byer, Ohio in Vinton County. She was survived by three daughters: Jennie Bolar Remick of Newark, Mrs Sherman Thomas of Chillicothe, Mrs. Emma Axline of Dayton. She was survived by one son, Mr. William Henry Bolar, of [Chillicothe.]

Emma Axline would have been my great-great-grandmother, whose daughter was Martha Jane Exline. Martha Jane married Mervin Lewis. The couple had two daughters, Elva Lewis Rockenbach and Fay Lewis Foster.

I'd be happy to know if you have any more news of the Bolar line!

Best,
