Wallace SIMMONDS was born in 1873
Elizabeth Ann COKER was born in 1878

- Wallace and Elizabeth Ann married on 14th November 1899 probably in the Hawkes Bay

Wallace was an IRONMONGER
- prior to their wedding Wallace was working at the Hawkes Bay Iron Foundry. His fellow work mates presented him with a marble timepiece as a mark of respect and esteem. The presentation was made by W. D. RICHARDSON who made a speech expressing the pleasure it gave him to make the gift on behalf of all his fellow workmen on the eve of the marriage, to one so highly esteemed. He wished him every happiness in the future. They all then adjourned to Mr GLASS's hotel to celebrate

1 July 1900 - Percy Simmonds
- married Ruth Florence Sylvia HARRIS (1899-1987) in 1923
- Ruth was born 2 July 1899 in Wellington to Henry HARRIS & Ada Decima MOON (they also had James William Henry & Violet Adora Mabel Harris)
- Percy died 1972 aged 72

1901 - Archie Wallace Simmonds
- married Mabel BAYLIS (1904-1964) in 1923
- Archie died in 1969 aged 68

1903 - Elsie Simmonds
- at the age of 10 Elsie went to a birthday party in Khandallah Wellington for the 2 daughters of Mrs CUTHBERTSON. Games of all sorts were played and it was Elsie who won the drawing competition
- the small guests who were present were:

- married Marie Louise DENT (1905-1997) in 1926
- served in WWII as Private #35546 with the New Zealand Infantry Brigade, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force (2NZEF), 22 Infantry Battalion
- KILLED in ACTION in Italy 2 Dec 1943 aged 37
- buried IX. C. 29. at Sangro River War Cemetery, Italy
- a year later, in the EVENING POST of 2 December 1944, there were 3 Memoriam Notices posted:
SIMMONDS, Albert George (Bob) - In proud and living memory of my dear brother killed in action in Italy, December 2, 1943

16 September 1907 - Edward Simmonds
- died 1973 aged 66

13 December 1909 - Francis "Frank" Glen Simmonds
- Frank married Hazel Sarah Anne MORGAN (1916-1999) in Oct 1935
- Hazel was born in Eltham, Taranaki, the 14th of 15 children of Frederick Henry MORGAN & Isabella Elizabeth FRAME. Her father was a Landscape Gardener in Conway Rd, Eltham
- Frank died in 1991 aged 99

.. I believe there may have been other children ..


Wallace died on 18th October 1953 aged 80
- he is buried in PLOT 292 O - SECTION CH ENG2 at Karori Cemetery

Elizabeth Ann died on 25th March 1943 aged 65
- (8 months before her son Albert was killed in Italy)
- buried in PLOT 292 0 - SECTION CH ENG2 at Karori with Wallace

mistake correction
- Francis "Frank" Glen Simmonds died aged 81

- his wife Hazel was born on 9 August 1916
- she died on 25 April 1999 aged 82

thank you so much for this information Wallace and Elizabeth are my husbands gr8 grandparents Francis Glen Simmonds his grandfather
