looking for Widdup & Stott in England & Australia

Query by davlee

Both these families were in Rochdale England during the 1800's. We do have a lot of info on the Stotts but hardly anything on Widdup. A Mary Widdup married a Thomas Stott in the early to mid 1800's. Their son Joseph came to Australia in 1870 (he was born 1852). He lived in Kerang, Victoria, Australia. Living on the next door farm was David Widdup and his wife, Eliza - they were referred to as Uncle and Aunt Widdup.

I don't know if this is of any help to you but there was a James WIDDUP that died in Kerang in 1881, aged 62 years. His parents were named as George WIDDUP and Elizabeth BUTTERWORTH. There were not many WIDDUP's in Victoria in those early years so he may be connected.
