McLuckie family in New Zealand

Article by Kiwisouth

Hi

My dad's family came out to New Zealand from Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Grandad was David Watson McLuckie, Nana was Lilias Neil Moyies. Grandad came out on the Mahana, Nana on the Ionic.

My Dad is Gregor McGregor Summers McLuckie, two bothers, John Moyies McLuckie and Neil Arthur McLuckie, one sister, Mary Morton Sentch (McLuckie)

Grandad's mother and father and many of his brothers and sisters came out to NZ as well. His brother Gregor went to work in the mines in South Africa and I understand he dies of peritonitis. His wife came out to NZ and remarried. He was the second oldest chile, John being the oldest.

More to follow.

Hi Ngairedith

My family are in Huntly still. There are other McLuckie's in NZ that aren't related as far as I am aware. Seems McLuckie was a very common name in Glasgow, especially in the Rutherglen area. I will add more info when I get a chance.
