Well Vincent, Michael Pascoe either died or divorced; otherwise Mary Ann would not have been able to marry. If the daughter, Sylvia married, details of her father may be on her marriage or death certificate. Depending of course on whether the family knew or not. My grandfather had "Father Deceased" on his marriage certificate in 1922 when in fact his father lived until 1953; but then my grandfather was only 4 when his father disappeared and his mother was dead. So he wasn't to know.
If you look at all the different names Mary Ann registered Jessie . I would say -at that time, 1924 and 1934- she had no idea what to do. Note the registration under Pascoe does not name a father so Michael was not around for the birth. She also registered the child under her maiden name then naming the father and registering the child as a McAuliffe,(all spellings) by Dennis.
BROOKSBANK JESSIE E A 13920/1924 MARY A SYDNEY
MACAULIFFE JESSIE E A 13920/1924 DENNIS M S MARY A SYDNEY
MCAULIFFE JESSIE E A 13920/1924 DENNIS M S MARY A SYDNEY
MACAULIFFE JESSIE E A 13920/1934 DENNIS M S MARY A URALLA
PASCOE JESSIE E A 13920/1924 MARY A SYDNEY
Now here is her marriage to McAuliffe but not till 1912
5650/1912 MCAULIFFE DENIS M S PASCOE MARY A DUBBO
and after the marriage, I'm inclined to think Denis adopted Jessie and legally gave her his name. It would pay you to invest in a couple of certificates. As a relative you are eligible to buy any of them.

Here are Walter Reuben Pascoe war records. I haven't been through them but amongst these 85 pages there may be some clue; usually when it comes to medals and personal effects of the deceased, letters emerge from relatives.

Remember, Walter was the third son:
1. PASCOE JOSEPH W M 27105 / 1892 MICHAEL, MARY A, NYMAGEE

2. PASCOE ALEXANDER J G 25630 / 1894 MICHAEL, MARY A, ORANGE now this should read Alexander J. F not G Here is his enlistment His next of kin surname is a transcription error, "T's" replacing 'F' and an 'O' for an 'E'
Alexander John Francis Pascoe When you have time, the Australian War Memorial would appreciate you, as a relative fixing the N.O.K error and any others you may encounter.

3.PASCOE WALTER R 11627 / 1899 MICHAEL, MARY A, DUBBO
