My WALLIS/WALLACE came from England, but their heritage was Scottish. Their arrival was in the Carolinas, Later known as Chester,SC. Old William WALLIS ( Brickwall ) b/ca 1740,d/1803 SC.

Known Brothers: John & James WALLIS , One was a school teacher. John & James could have been in TN,GA or NC, when they divided the Carolinas into states.

Have all known ( William ) childrens lines except Hugh ( Brickwall ) b/ca 1767, In one of Hugh son obits, it stated his grandfather
( William WALLIS,found on 1800 census), died in 1803, was from Scotland, his father ( Hugh WALLIS, found on census to 1820 ), died in Mobile, Al., on his way home from war.

After the older Wallis died, My John Wallis lost his wife, so his children, his twin sister, brothers: Charner, Hugh, all moved from SC , went to Alabama. My John remarried, then went to Texas. Even in 1860, people said their Scottish brogue was so thick , they were hard to understand.
