Patrick Norman Reilly of Tamworth ,NSW

Journal by LostReilly

I am searching for any connections to my fathers family in Tamworth, NSW. My fathers details are as follows: Born Patrick Norman Reilly(Riley), 24/03/1922. Lived in the Tamworth area until he joined the Australian Army 06 March 1941, Signals 1 Aust Armd Div (his army papers state his birth date as 1/12/1920?)He had Robert Sylvester Reilly ( Cousin?) as his next of kin. He then went AWOL on the 9/10/41 ( no known reason) and travelled to Victoria.
He registered with the Australian Army on 16 October 1941 as Ronald Leslie Jackson, and after his basic training he volunteered for the Australian Commandos Squadrons.
He served with the 2/6 Aust Commando Squadron in PNG,& Solomon Islands in some of the heaviest battles during that time until 16 January 1946. During this time he was charged with d&D and disobeying an officer, as well as being promoted in the field twice. Hard to understand isn't it.
I knew him as Ronald Jackson all of my life and only discovered all of this after his death in 1996.On his first army papers he had Nellie Reilly as his next of KIN and from the few things he said about this while alive she was either his sister or mother. he had great love for her.
I would love to hear from anyone that have any details about his (Reilly)family in the Tamworth area.
