PECK: Morton Percival

Journal by ngairedith

who was Morton Percival Peck?
Born in Hawera NZ in March 1913 I have his death date also as 1913 but the confusing thing is he is in my list as a son of Olive Rita Peck and her partner Percy Sowerby.
As Olive was born in 1907 this is not possible. None of her siblings were old enough either
As he didnt take her partners name I presume he was a Peck and she was to bring him up
Any clues please ???

ok - so, Olives birth date was incorrect - it was 1892/5 - so it seems she was Mortons mother. But Percy was not the father.
There is a marriage date to Percy for 1925.
Morton was born and died in 1913 but no other information on that

I'm guessing you have seen this PECK tree already?

Marking Time - Joanne Warby lists Morton Percival PECK. If you look closely, it seems that Percy Sowerby married Ivy Peck and also Oliva Rita Peck. Totalling guessing here ... maybe they were sisters?

Hi allycat
Yes I went to that link a couple of weeks back and believe it or not Joanne and I used to live a few houses from each other so we chat through email
By a huge coincidence I printed out the pages of that link and have been working on them all day
At first glance Percy appears a bit of a worry :) After much research (and I will print it here to save other researchers the headache) this is how it goes:
Ivy Peck was Samuel Peck snr daughter
Olive Peck was Sams brothers, granddaughter
Percy was a worry all right
Percy married Ivy when he was 22 and she was 19
They had 2 daughters
The 1st daughter died in 1924 when she was only 10
Ivy died the following year leaving a 4 year old
Percy then married Olive - THAT SAME YEAR
He was 35 and she was 18
I have a feeling I will be doing a lot more research into Percy !
thanks for bringing it to my attention
