I have been researching my family tree for over a year now & have a lot of information regarding the Climo's. So I am hoping to connect with any descendants of James and Jane as well as descendants of my 3rd-great-grandfather's family, the Popes. His name was George Whiting Pope. And lastly, I am trying to find information on my 2nd-great-grandmother's family, the Cotton's, who lived in Nelson. I have found some information which I am happy to share here and am ever hopeful that I may connect with descendants of this family also.

Do you know someone who can help? Share this:

I have no idea if there is any relation but my family of Popes, John and Joseph repeat themselves for over a hundred and fifty years. I've hit a stumbling block with John Pope who settled in Virginia in the early to mid 1700's. The name William does appear in our tree but just once or twice.

Hello Tess,
I'm not entirely sure whether or not any of our Popes left England for the USA - it's entirely possible but I have only concentrated on our direct line from which my 5th great-grandfather comes from (he came out to New Zealand).
If you have found links to Modbury, Devon in the UK then that could be a common link and we may be distantly related!
