Benedictus Coombe was born in Cornwall Eng. 30th May 1832 m. 24th November 1853 Bodmin Cornwall to Grace Wills. They had 13 children. Benedictus died 20th October 1898 Clunes Victoria aged 66 years, his wife died 14th November 1887 also in Clunes Victoria. Benedictus remarried in 1890 to Kate Chesterfield. She was born 25 August 1850 at Carlow England. She was buried 5th February 1925 aged 75 years Clunes Victoria. I am interested in any information regarding the COOMBE Clan

Hi lyn1956, What a coincidence I'm headed over that way tomorrow and will be passing through Clunes If I have time I will stop and ask the locals. If you want to find out about anyone buried at the Clunes Cemetery you can email 'Carol' at judkins@netspace.net.au she'll send you a photo of a headstone for free if there is one. She has the indexes to all the cemeteries in that area.
In the meantime this site will keep you busy Coombe Clan

Thank you for your response I appreciate your interest.I will contact Carol about the headstones I have been looking into the family tree for some years but have recently had a distant relative contact the family and it has rekindled some new desire to keep investigating. I always find it fascinating to see new information, photos,facts/dates and the connection between families. Once again thanks for your contact

Hi Lyn,
Just found your post.
I am a Coombe descendant and have data reaching back to Thomas COOMBE Abt. 1640 Lezant Cornwall UK and the descendants include Benedictus COOMBE born 03 Jan 1833 Lewannick Cornwall UK died 21 Oct 1898 Clunes Victoria Australia. He had 12 children with Grace Wills, 4 born in St. Ive Cornwall UK and the rest in Clunes. He remarried after grace died but had no children with Kate Chesterfield.
The gold fields held special interest for the Coombes with another settling in Gympie Qld and my ancestor settling in Adelaide SA after winning gold from Vic.
Happy to exchange data. Send a messageto connect.
Cheers,
Marlin
