Rev. Thomas Best, Bible Christian minister South Australia

Journal by oldjoe68

Seeking ancestors parents and siblings for Thomas Best. Born about 1835 in Cornwall, emigrated to Australia (unassisted passage) departing Plymouth, England 27/6/1862 on ship Sussex. Arrived Port Melbourne Australia 29/12/1862, then Adelaide 3/181863 aboard ship Aldinga I. Travelled with a Bible Christian family; head - Joseph Teague.

Thomas married Ellen Hawke at Unley Sth Australia 28/3/1865 and died Sturt Sth Australia 20/6/1874.

Have identified several Thomas Best's in Cornwall census' in 1841 and 1851 but cannot tie him to any particular family. Closest I have is F- John M- Ann (Anne or Nancy) at Higher Trelavour, St Dennis, Cornwall.

Any help appreciated.

Just so we don't repeat ourselves. Looking for BEST Connections

My brevity in my request has apparently not conveyed the message that I tried to convey. Concise requests are obviously not my forte.

I am seeking 'my' ancestors parents and siblings.... Sorry about that, not seeking any repeat searches. I have a substantial amount of information on Thomas' Australian connections and now need guidance on how to track his Cornish roots.

I am absolutely lost in isolating Thomas' family from others of the era and I suspect that this is due in part to the lack of church records for his 'Bible Christian' non-conformist faith.

I cannot positively connect Thomas to any particular mother and father. Have purchased his death certificate but don't have it yet. Any suggestions on other means of connecting him to a family would be nice.
