TONKIN Richard married Honour GUY 1793

Introduction.

My 4th great grandparents were Richard TONKIN & Honour GUY.
They were married in St Levan, Cornwall on the 26 October 1793.
Three of their sons, Enoch, James and John, came out to South Australia in the 1840s and took up farming in the Adelaide district.

Enoch TONKIN and Elizabeth (aka Betsy) HUTCHENS.
Married in St Levan, Cornwall on the 19 April 1823.
They arrived at Steadfast Bay, South Australia on the Java in 1840 with their eight children.

Age: 02 years 05 months.
Buried: St Buryan, Cornwall.
Date of burial: 12 February 1837.

Line 2.

James TONKIN (my 3rd great grandfather) and Nancy (aka Anne) HUTCHENS
Married in St Buryan, Cornwall on the 27 October 1827.
Nancy was the sister of Enoch's wife Elizabeth (aka Betsy) HUTCHENS.
They arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia, on the Cressy in 1847 with their five children. During the voyage they also lost their young daughter, Elizabeth Jane, who was just a babe in arms.

They arrived at Port Adelaide, South Australia, on the Marion in 1849 with their four children.

Just as an aside regarding the Trenoweth surname, you may not have heard this old phrase - think this is how it goes - 'By tre, pol and pen ye shall ken ye names of ye true Cornishmen'.
