Ritchie Robert and Ann Munford, Sutton Forest

Journal by tikira

We are seeking others researching Robert and Ann Ritchie/Riches/Richey/Richards etc. Robert was born around 1788 in Norfolk England, and married Ann Munford in 1810. He was transported on the "Asia" (2) in 1822 and was assigned to James Atkinson. He applied to have his wife and family join him, which they did per "Henry" in 1824.
We have a group of people researching Robert and his wife Ann. We know a great deal about Robert as we have been researching him for many years, We produce a newsletter called The Ritchie Researcher, and would invite anyone interested to contact us and become a part of our group.
Their children were
Rachel (Marr. Isaac HOLMES),
Elizabeth ( Marr. William SMITH),
Mary (marr. James POWELL),
James (marr. Mary HOLLANDS),
Sarah (died as a child),
Susan (marr. William JONES).
We hope to be able to help anyone interested in any of these names. We
descend through Susan and William JONES, and have others researching all the other lines as well.

Hello Wayne and Di
How wonderful to find someone else researching the Ritchie family.
I am very interested in subscribing to your newsletter "The Ritchie Researcher". Please let me know what I must do.

I have been trying to find a date of death for Ann Ritchie (Munford)and my search led me here.
Also, does anyone know what happened to their missing daughter Phyllis? Did she die in infancy (maybe on the ship coming over) or did she stay behind?? I cannot find any confirmation of either.

I am a direct descendant through their only son James Thomas Ritchie who married Mary Hollands, and their son James Thomas Ritchie who married Sophia Thompson.
I am also interested in tracing the tree further back from Robert and Ann. I have names of their parents but no dates and no confirmation so far.
With thanks
Janice Ritchie

Hi Janice.

We have sent a private message with our email address for you to contact us. We are still very interested in family research and whilst we haven't done a newsletter for a while we still have a reasonable amount of information and back issues we are more than willing to share.

With regards the questions you have raised, we are in a similar position. We have been unable to find Ann's death date and Phyllis is still missing.

Hopefully with many people looking and sharing we will end up with that elusive breakthrough.

Hi Mark, I love the surname!
My line then comes through their eldest son John Robert Henry. Which brother do you lay claim to? Do you have much information on all the siblings in this enormous family? So far I figure James had 2 marriages and 18 children! Am I close?
Cheers Cuz....lol
