Robert Henry WHITEMAN (abt 1839 Somersetshire - 1884 New South Wales, Australia)

Journal by AnneYoungAu

Robert Henry Whiteman died of pneumonia in February 1884 at Parkes in New South Wales, Australia. He left behind a young widow and one child with another child yet to be born. Robert had married Sarah Jane Way in 1882 at Parkes. He was a miner.

The marriage certificate does not give details of his parents. Similarly details of his parents were not known at the time of his death (informants were from his wife's family). His death certificate states he had been born in Somersetshire, was aged 45 (born about 1839) and had emigrated to Australia at the age of 5 - ie about 1844.

I would be delighted to share information with any other researchers.

I've got a Reginald Walter WHITEMAN b 1914, Boggabri, NSW. Could he be part of the same family as yours? He married a Joyce Kathleen KABLE in 1939. I believe [though cannot prove] that Reginald Walter WHITEMAN is the son of Walter J and Maria [nee Haley] of Moree as they have some other children registered at Narrabri and Boggabri at around the same time.

Hi, Reginald could be part of the same family but I don't have enough information to make the connection. Robert Henry's son was also called Robert Henry. He married in Tasmania and had children there and later in Victoria.
