Ruddick and Crane family association swith the Somerset Coalfield

Journal by daveruddick

Both sets of my Grandparents were employed in the Somerset Coalfield, throughout their working lives, wheres my father was also employed there, but only for a brief period.
In researching, it seems probable that there has been involvement with this coalfield, by one or the other of my paternal (Ruddick)ancestors, extending from at least the early 1800s until possibly the end, working mainly in and around Camerton,
On my maternal (Crane)side, the involvement was much more recent, working in Midsomer Norton and Radstock.area.
There were certainly Ruddick movements to both Kent and South Wales coalfields and also it recently transpires with Doncaster area.
Anyone with information would be most welcome to get in touch.
