Savage family near Cork,Ireland and Coleman family, Ireland

Journal by Vron1234

I have been researching my family history for years now and always seem to hit a brick wall with the Irish side. Grandfather John Savage came from Knockingappagh near Cork to Australia, I can trace back to his grandparents John and Bridget around 1840's but no further. I also cannot find info on my great grandmother(maiden name Coleman), who's mother died on way to India where her father who was in British army died in a skirmish.

Hi there,Bridget's maiden name is unknown, she died in childbirth in Feb.1842 aged 36, leaving 4 children. John and Bridget's children: Patrick, Daniel, Margaret and John. John was my great grandfather, he married Margt., their children were: Thomas,Daniel,John(my grandfather),Bridget,Peter,Patrick,Mary and Margaret. Have info. on all their children.
On the other side my grandfather John's wife was Honorah Henkel, her mother was Honorah(maiden name Coleman), she was raised by nuns in India after her mother died on ship on way to India and father died with the British Army in a skirmish in India. As far as I know the Colemans were also Irish.
I appreciate any info you may have. Veronica

Thanks for that. Are you related too or not? There are so many John Savages, I haven't done a lot of research just recently but will check out the Irish heritage sites again.
