Searching for Spences in Fife, Scotland

Article by adamgrspence

I am researching my family name Spence in Fife, Scotland.
Using the GROS in Edinburgh and ScotlandsPeople on the internet, I have been able to establish that Peter Spence (my great great grandfather) was the son of Peter Spence and Catherine Miller and was born in Dunfermline in 1795. There were five other recorded children in this family: William born 1790, George born 1798, Thomas born 1800, Catherine born 1803 and Jean born 1806.
Peter Spence (born 1795) is shown in Portobello from before 1823 to 1871 when he died. He was a builder.
I also believe I have traced George Spence to Newcastle where he died in the 1850s.
Also I believe Jean married in Dunfermline and died before 1861 as she does not appear in that census.
My father believe that the family originally came from Dysart in the early 1700s/late 1600s.
I have spread sheet of Spence marriages and births in Scotland if anyone is interested.

Can you give me some more information on your William Spence - i.e. when he was born, who he married, did he live in Paisley all his life if not where did he go, who were/are his children? Then I might be able to help.
