Sinnock - Bexhill/Battle, Sussex

Journal by debbietyrrell

Hi There
I am researching for a Thomas Sinnock who married a Mary ???? (There seem to be a few around era I am looking at)
in 1811 they had a daughter Philadlephia, who in 1831 married a William Fuller. They had a few children, I have cencus records and birth /death records, I have copy of phildelphias marriage and baptismal certificate. Her daughter Harriet married a Joseph Freeman.

It is Thomas and Mary I am interested in, would like to know marys surname, I found a Thomas who fought in Battle of Waterloo, lost an arm but survived and wondering if is same as my Thomas? I dont know whether they had any other children, philadelphia is my direct ancestor, I would like a marriage certificate if available and any birth details if known. I cant get to sussex for maybe a few months to have a look myself. I am also interested in what area was like around that time, i.e. photos etc.I know william fuller and some of their children were Ag. Labs. and I think Thomas Sinnock could have been but not sure.
Many thanks

This is the only marriage I could find for a Thomas and Mary.
You will not get marriage certificate because they were not issued until 1837. You will need to look for parish records. Google sussex archives to find where to find these. Note Selmeston, Sussex, England is near Eastbourne.

Hi
Philadelphia was my 3 x great grandmother, if you go on family org, it's free and you'll find lots of info, or if you have access to Ancestry, you could look on my Simpson tree, I have not done a lot of research on that part of the family but you're free to have a look.
If I'm right Philadelphia was the youngest child, there was Thomas, then Mary christened 28 Jul 1801 in West Firle, ref 104400-3 gs 21866642, then William christened 16 Nov 1809 Selmeston ref 001067264 - 004427526, Ann christened 20 oct 1811 Selmeston ref 0010667264 004427526, as yet I have not found christening records for Philadeplhia but to be honest I haven't really started on this part of the family yet.
I hope this helps, good luck
Vanessa
