Remember visiting dear old Aunty Fanny and her second husband Uncle Axel KRISTENSEN - married Frances Eliza GIBBS about 1935. She was my Grandmother's older sister - my Grandmother (Nann) was may Charlotte GIBBS the youngest of twelve to John Henry GIBBS and Mary Ann Eliza (nee GREEN). Mary was presented a very nice large leather Bible in 1907 when they left Oroua Downs for her service and commitment to teaching children at the Rongotea Gospel Hall.
She was a very special lady and died the following year in Nelson. Her body was transported back to Taihape by ship to Wellington and rail north - the train was late arriving and the funeral had to be postponed until the train arrived.
