Arthur was one of those who started the firm Sinclair Melbourne and Company of Lyttelton. A partnership of two old Lyttelton family firms of marine engineers, boat-builders, boilermakers, welders, blacksmiths plus later motor garage owners. It was on Norwich Quay (site of the present Port Company building)

- they had at least 10 children, 1 of whom, Abraham Dowsett emigrated to New Zealand on the "ALMA" in 1857 with his (second) wife, Eliza Susannah KING & 8 children on the Alma. They had a daughter Alice Louisa Dowsett born 2 years later in NZ. Abraham drowned in the Wellington Harbour in 1870

- daughter of Henry Alexander WHELCH & Mary Ann CASTLE - Dover to Auckland * granddaughter of Henry Hodges WHELCH (1787-1839) & Elizabeth Delahay PRICE. Henry died in Charlton, Dover, Kent, in 1839 and Elizabeth emigrated to New Zealand 16 months after his death in 1840 aboard the LONDON. She took 7 of the children with her - Archibald, 23 at the time, did not go with them. Elizabeth remarried in 1842 in Wellington to the Master Whaler, Captain George HEMPLEMANN (1799-1880)

Thomas Clark(1874-)

- daughter of Charles William Edward BOBY & Ann Jane BURROWS
- her father ran the Bealey Hotel from 1878 to 1880 and from 1882 to 1885 he was a cab owner in Nursery Road, Linwood. In 1890 he was sentenced to ten weeks imprisonment for deserting his three children Mary Louisa, Edward Alexander and Anna Wilson Boby, about 8 years previously. Their mother, Ann had died over 2 years earlier and the children had been living with their grandmother Mrs Burrows. Edward had been in New South Wales

Our Nz Clark's are from William Newport Clark and Sarah Jane Fleming who settled mainly in North Island. William's parents were Jackson and Maud Eugenie (nee Walker) Clark... i have lots of info on this family.

Do you have any information about this Clark family?

I have no idea who Thomas Clark's parents were or where they came from.

Any information would be much appreciated.
