Jacob Straley (Strahle ) and wife Susan Barbar/Barbon come from Frankford ,Germany
after they got married in 1758. His brother John Straley and family come on the ship (Speedway)

John and Jacob lost sight of each other and seems to have never heard from each other

There Jacob's sister and her husband Jacob Lynch lived. It is believed that Lynchburg was named
after Jacob Lynch.
Jacob Straley brought some land from Jacob Lynch upon his arrival to Virginia and
started the original Plantation

Co.,Va. ...In 1810 John Tyler ,Esq....Governor of the Commonwealth Of Virginia, granted Jacob
Straley II ,Fouty nine acres of land on the west side of New River on Rich Hill for service during
the Revolution.

The Straley's served in branches of the government both state and federal government . They
served in all the Wars from the American Revolution ,War of 1812 ,which three sons of Jacob
Straley II serve they were James ,Daniel and John, they served in the Warof 1812 , Some were Confederates that we know for sure for in Texas several of Jacob's grandsons were in the Texas Confederate Army. ,but some Straley's could have serve on the Union side too . The World
War I & II . William G. Straley was in the Korean War ,and Johnny Straley was in the end of
the Vietnam War . Johnny was William's son , but these are just two Straley and I'm sure that
there was more. These were descendant's of Jacob Straley II from the line of Charles M. Straley
and his son Charles D. Straley . These I know because they are my Straley Family (by Shirley
Straley) . The Straley's are Ancestors to be proud of . They are as American's as anyone . They
came from Germany and came to America with little and made a name and build plantations ,
help start ,school , churches and banks.

In 1815 Jacob Straley II ,deeded his sons John and Charles Straley 102 acres on the north side
of Buckeye Mountain , Jacob paid taxes in 1815 on 4 slaves 32 head of cattle ,7 houses . Jacob
and his children were prominent in the founding of this region of Virginia which also includes
Princeton ,West Virginia .

Martha and Jacob 's 11 children produce 47 grandchildren and between 120-160 great grand
children.Jaccob gave land in the early 1800's for the first church to be build in Princeton ,West
Virginia. Two of his sons were Methodist minsters John and Jacob Lynch Straley. Matthew French Straley ,the seventh son of Jacob and Martha died young and never married ,but fathered an
illegitimate daughter names Martha Ann Virginia Straley born abt 1839 . Martha Ann married on
May 22,1856 to Jefferson Lee Straley ,also an illegitimate son of joseph B. Straley. The records
stste that Jefferson was living in Owens Co,m Indiana at the time of marriage . Jefferson and
Martha Ann were first cousin since their fathers were brothers.

We are descendants of Martha and and Jacob Straley II line . We have no way of knowing
why Charles M. Straley our g-g-grandfather left Virginia after his father deeded him land ,maybe
it was his pioneer feelings come out and he wanted to explored the west . If he hadn't left Virginia
the Straley's would not have come to Texas when they did . Most of the Straley's in Texas
descendant from this line .

Charles* M.4 Straley (Jacob*II3, Jacob*(Strahle )2, unknown1 Straley/Strahle)45,46,47,48,49 was born 1795 in New River , Giles Co., Virginia, and died October 1849 in Lampasas Co., Texas or Clark Co.,Ark. He married (1) Elizabeth* (Betsy ) McComas50,51 16 July 1818 in Huntington , Cabell Co , West Virginia, daughter of Stephen* McComas and Sarah* Sartain. She was born 06 June 1803 in Virginia, and died Abt. 1839 in Illinois. He married (2) Martha Warwick Bet. 20 & 30 November 1840 in Tazewell , Illinois52. She died Unknown.

Notes for Charles* M. Straley:
Charles M. Straley had seven brothers and two sisters . He was born in New River Valley ,Giles
Co.,Virginia Abt. 1795.His father received land from the Governor of the Commonwealth of
Virginia for his part in the American Revolution. He received 49 acres of land in New River
Valley and moved his family there around 1810. 1815 he deed 102 acres of land to two of his
sons John and Charles M.our g-g-grandfather . For some reason Charles M. leaves Virginia
and moves his family to Illinois . We guess that it was the pioneer in Charles that made him
want to move his family further west . There some of the McComas family had already moved to.
Charles M.Straley was a pioneer and always on the moved ,He left the Virginia's and moved
to Illinois possible following Elizabeth McComas family . Her father and brothers went to Illinois
and on to Missouri before Coming on to Texas to help settle Peter's Colony where Dallas is
now. When Elizabeth McComas died in Illinois and Charles remarried they perhaps decided
not to go on to Texas with the rest of the McComas family and went to Arkansas first before
coming to Texas.
1820 Cabell Co.,W.Va.Census
STAILEY, Charles M 1 1 1

Illinois is where his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) McComas died after during child birth are a short
time after child birth due to computations of the birth of Elias Straley in 1839 . Also there is
no written proof that Elias Straley was born to Elizabeth and Charles Straley.

In 1840 he married Martha Warwick and they had one son Hugh Straley. Charles again moves
his family to Arkansas ,in Clark Co. Some of his children married in Arkansas .Some say that he
died in Clark Co.,Arkansas . I have yet to see the proof of that . We have also been told that he
moved on to Texas with five of his children. Most of the Straley's in Texas are descendants of
Charles sons . We have also been told that he fought off indians with his son Sampson David

Notes for Charles* Decatur (2) Straley:
Charles D. Straley came to Texas from Arkansas and then from Illinois and Virginia where he
was born. His mother died in about 1838/1839 in Illinois . His father then married Martha Warneck
/ Warwick /Warnock not sure about her last name in Illinois before going to Arkansas . Several
of the children got married in Arkansas . Then the Straley's came to Texas ( Charles M. Straley
may have come with them we heard both ways that he died in Arkansas in 1849 and then we heard
that he was in Texas and fought in the Indian War's and was in the Rio Grande Valley when his son Sampson was killed and he was wounded ) .( I believe that it was Charles Decatur Straley his son
that was in the Rio Grand Valley with Sampson and was wounded and later died from Computations
by Shirley Straley .) But no one knows the cause of death.

His will was probated in Williamson Co..Tx May 6, 1871 ,probably had died shortly before that.

At one time he owned land in Lampasas Co.,Tx. along with his brothers Joesph and Andrew
Jackson Straley (No one knows why he sold the land and left and moved to Williamson Co.,Tx.) Williamson Co.,Tx. is where he was living at when he died. He married Susan Elizabeth Morrison
in Lampasas Co.,in 1859 .

He was in the Civil War probably the sme branch that his brother Joseph Leland Straley was in
"The Second Frontier Dictrict Texas State Troops of the Confederate Army". Pvt in the war got
out June 1,1864.He was a minute man under Captain Williamson Jones Co. of Lampasas from Sept 2,1861 till it was disbanded in March of 1862 . He was in the 27 Brigade ,Texas Military listed in the Adjutant General Roll 1616 Archives Divison ,Texas State Library.

NOTE: Theodocia Straley could have not been Charles D. Straley's daughter since he died in
1870/1971 and she was not born untill 1877. by Shirley Straley.

The brothers that came to Texas was Joseph Leland , Andrew Jackson ,Sampson /Samson David,
Charles Decatur , Hugh Straley (half brother) and sister Flora Straley . Most of the Straley in Texas
are descendants of Charles M. Straley the father of the above children. We don't know where the
other children went to.Hugh Straley family settled in Comanche ,Tx.
