I have had lots of good fortune finding info and documentation about other branches in my family tree, but I am really log-jammed with my great-grandfather. Seems like there is something, I don't know--secretive--going on here! According to my records, he was born December 15, 1870 in Illinois, died April 20, 1941. He didn't marry my great-grandmother, Mildred Hoag, until he was 40 years old, and according to census info, he lived in a boarding house prior to that marriage. I believe his parents were Henry Vandevere Lowe and Maggie Garretson, both born in New Jersey, but I am not positive about that, and am frustrated with this dead end, when other branches have been traced back so much further. Also, it seems like Williams date of birth may be questionable. Help?
