Rolla Thomas PLANT b 25 Oct 1876 in Ballan, d 25 Apr 1941 in Horsham was my grandfather. I have the following information which I hope is correct:
Rolla's mother Mildred SPICE d 15 Feb 1916 in Ararat.
His sister Anna Elizabeth d 1912 in Newtown, NSW.
His sister Miriam Amelia PLANT m William Birchall HUNTER 24 Jul 1889 in Sth Melb.
William Birchall HUNTER's father was Job Hunter b 22 Jul 1832 in Swinford, Leicestershire, d 15 Mar 1915 of 'senile debility, exhaustion' at 82 Carlton St. Carlton, Vic. His mother was Anna Maria Johanna BIRCHALL b abt. 1834 in Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire, d 08 Jun 1893 at 72 Clarenden St, Sth Melb. They had 8 children of which William Birchall HUNTER was the 7th born. Job & Anna were m 29 Jul 1854 in St Paul's, Melb.
Thomas PLANT (youngest of Robt PLANT & Mildred SPICE's 10 children) was b 1883 in Ballan.

You mention here that Rolla's mother, Mildred SPICER, died in Ararat on the 15 February 1916. There is no record of this death in the Victorian records.

It appears to me someone has confused the death of Rolla's mother, Mildred PLANT, nee SPICER, and the death of Rolla's daughter, Mildred Magdeline PLANT.

Thanks for such a prompt response. I know my mother (Martha Nancy CRAWFORD nee PLANT b 14 Aug 1912) was only 5 years old when her mother, Mildred, died of TB in a sanatorium. This would put Mildred's date of death as 1917 but I can't understand why there isn't a record of her death.

On a different note, I saw your name pop-up in relation to the MILLS family. I have also been researching the MILLS as my father's mother was Ethel Elizabeth Kendall MILLS b 1882 in Maryborough. She married my grandfather, John Crawford 03 Oct 1906 in Heyfield. I have details of over 50 members of the MILLS family dating back to Samuel b 1786.

In your comment above you name Martha's mother as Mildred that died about 1817. Mildred was Rolla's mother.

This is the death of your mother's mother, Martha, not Mildred.

You're absolutely right! Mum's mother was Martha Rebecca & her grandmother was Mildred! I haven't been able to find any information on Robert KANE & Eliza MCAFEE although I do have details of their 5 children. Thanks. All info is gratefully received.

I have all the BDMs for Robert and Eliza's five children. If you have any details missing let me know. I have not located Robert and Eliza's marriage or deaths to date and will let you know if I do.
