Jacob Henry GOODING & Sarah Annie BURLING of Wairarapa

Jacob Henry GOODING was born in 1838 in Curry Rivel, Langport, Somerset.
He was the first of 6 children to Jacob and Charlotte (nee BROOKMAN) Gooding.
When he was 14 they emigrated to Victoria Australia on the BOMBAY and then sometime later they shifted to New Zealand.

He first worked at Tauherenikau which is near Featherston in the Wairarapa and then he was a top shearer at Waiorongomai Station, near Palliser Bay and Lake Wairarapa, owned by the MATHEWS
He later bought his own farm further north along the Western Lake road. Western Lake is near Palliser Bay, Lake Ferry etc - he could have been farming in any of these areas around Lake Wairarapa

Jacob married Sarah Annie BURLING Christmas Eve 1861 at Tauherenikau (15km W of Greytown, Wairarapa)

Sarah was born in Wellington in 1843. The first born in New Zealand of Henry BURLING and Mary WORSLEY of London, England.
Henry & Mary emigrated to New Zealand on the LONDON with their 5 children in 1842

- Frank was one of 10 children of William John James BURLING & his 1st wife Mary Ann CLARK, this made him a grandson of Henry BURLING & Mary WORSLEY, his mother-in-law's parents. Also, Francis's sister Mary Louisa BURLING married his mother-in-law's brother George Arthur BURLING
(His father remarried in 1910 to Alice Maude McKELLOW in 1906)

This means that she married three times - do you know what happened to the first two husbands - I am researching the COMPTON family and AW Compton is a relative of mine.
