Good story, well researched Jim. I can help you with the Australian part of your tree if you need.

The GRANTER clan of Warrnambool, Victoria. James and Elizabeth had another seven children between 1854 and 1866. I'm starting to put the family together from the records and hope it may help you some.

Many thanks, janilye and tonkin for your response to my first Journal entry. My Australia research and family history comes almost in it's entirety from the late Merran Adams of Warrnambool and is already quite extensive, thanks to her. For example, I have the descendants of James Granter on my GenesReunited site. Let me know more about the background to your Australian Granter researches if you like.
Currently I'm hoping to trace the Granters in England back beyond John 1784-1852. Having just joined familytreecircles I'm enjoying finding my way around and reading Journals such as yours.
