- Robert Donald Douglas McLean (1852-1929) was one of the largest land holders in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand. He was regarded as the country's most successful breeder of shorthorn cattle and Welsh Ponies. He had inherited his station from his father, Donald McLean, who was one of the most influential figures in Maori-Pakeha relations in the mid-1800s. He married Florence Butler-Storey & had 3 children. His oldest daughter, Louisa Constance Catherine McLean, married Vice Admiral Charles Fountaine so Andrew Fountaine was their grandson

In Aug 1866 this ad appeared in the Lyttelton TImes: If Mr William Longmuir Orr from Ayrshire, Scotland, will call or send his address to Mr W. Gavin, Cashel street, Christchurch, he will receive important news from home. In 1869 he married Sarah Jane PANNETT & had at least 10 children (7 sons). Also had a son, William Longmuir Muir (1879-) so could have been him?
