Tracing back the Guthrie's from Canada to Scotland

Journal by thebear

Howdy folks,
I am trying to trace the Guthrie's back to my Scottish roots where my Great Grandfather was married to the Walkers and my mother's family, the Bleases also came from.

The Guthrie's were from the Greenock area and the Bleases were from Johnshaven. Also in the family line are Bazeleys, from England and Aytons, Lyalls and Browns, Dows from Scotland and a host of other names.

The sons and daughters of Robert Guthrie and Mary Jane Walker came to Canada and settled on the prairies and in Ontario and British Columbia and some went to the US and Australia, and some stayed in Scotland also. The Bleases are still in the Johnshaven area and also went to Malta and Australia.

Hope to find others researching these names as this is a fascinating hobby and I'm managing to build quite a forest so far.

Thanks for any and all help and if someone is connected I have a lot of names and dates from here in Canada, Gordon D Guthrie
