Hello Carol-Anne,

My name is Sharon Searle, daughter of David James Searle and Patricia Joy Equid.Yes I'm related as Harry (Henry) Meryvn Equid was my mother's father, who walk out of the marriage to my grandma Dorothy Helen Equid (nee haley, nee Love) when my mum was young. I have found other websites with information you have done and cried looking at my Equid relations I have never got to meet. As my mum and her sister who died as a baby are Harry only kids apart from step sons John and Glenn (I think)
I show my mother Pat your message, then she gave me a bag of old pictures which does have Equids in it but she doesn't know the names of them all.As I don't drive due to having Epilepsy, I live in west Melton Victoria and would love to met any Equid family member, as I love family history and discovering / meeting new cousins. My mother b. 04.07.1953, married my dad 05.06.1971 and had 3 kids and now 7 grandkids. I was born 21.08.1978 and have a son Jesse Liam Searle b.15.05.2000 and daughter Chelsea Nicole Searle- Borg b. 12.01.2008. I would love to share all our information, certificates but most of all meet my cousins. Please get back to me.
Kind regards Love Sharon Searle (Harry Equids only blood grandaughter)

Hi Carol-Anne,

My name is Karen Francis - I am a granddaughter or Ellen Equid and Edward Bertram. I recognize quite a few people in the photos (as does my father) and have some information on that part of the family (and photos). Not sure if you are still using this site, but if so, message me and I'll give you my email address so you can contact me privately.

Harry Equid was also appointed coach of the Kyneton Football Club, in the Bendigo League 1953; which they don't mention

Hi Sharon,

Great to hear from you. I think I can add a little bit to the history. When Harry left your Mum the family were not too pleased. He was considered a bit of a rebel and only my Mum, Ivy Catherine Equid spoke to him for a while at one stage when he was playing footy he lived with us in Essendon but I was a baby. My Mum and Dafpd kept in contact with him until he passed away, throughout his second 'marriage'.
Am not often up in Melbourne but in the New Year I would love to catch up and maybe take a few pictures of your collection. Our newest Cousin is Louis Croigh, the birth child of Doreen Equid, Heck's wife.

There are so many 'normal nowadays' twists and turns in this family history that makes a straight forward family tree really tough to do. But as time passes I am sure sensitivities will change. At present I know that quite a few descendants are living in Perth of South Australia. I speak to Lola Cockington whose Mum was Anne Equid,. She lives in Adelaide and is in her eighties. I also speak with David Equid son of John Equid who lives in my Mum, anne and John were the youngest of the three Equid kids it makes sense how I have picked up these connections. Your generation is actually very very e tensile with so many surnames to trace. If you are interested in doing your family tree I can let you have quite a few bits of info to start. It is something I had intended to do when I retire but why wait? My email address is [email protected] if you wish to make further contact.

To Jan.

Thank you for the mention of the Kyneton FC. I didn't know about this. I have managed to buy one Football Card featuring Incle Harry, the Cornies one. A wonderful man through EBay sent me photocopies of the other Card plus material from Essendon football club records and the vFL record.

If anything I probably now have more information about Harry's sporting career than the life of any other of the Equid siblings, aside from my mother. I also have two photos that were run in the Sun Newspicyorial inherited from my Mum.

It is going to be harder to trace the lives of the Equid women I suspect, as I can get access to WW2 military records for the men.

Any information is great. Thank you for the links.
