Trying to confirm the identity of my great grandfather

Journal by dvhughey

I'm David V. Hughey, Ph.D. (Anthropology). I've been working on my family tree since 1958, when I was in 8th grade.

My Hughey family line, as far as I have gotten, begins in Ohio. In the 1880 Carter County, Kentucky, Census, Henry Hughey, a brick maker at that time, said he was born about 1849 in Ohio. His wife, Rebecca Belle Alexander, was born in Jackson County, Ohio, in 1853, and in 1870 was already back in the Kentucky world of the Alexander family.

Other Hugheys in Jackson County, Ohio, in 1849, were Dr. Christopher Martin Hughey and his wife, the former Martha Jane Stinson. They had recently left Kentucky as well. Dr. Hughey and his wife had a son, Henry Francis Hughey, born in Jackson County, Ohio, about 1849, but I've no knowledge of what happened to him. Could he be my Henry Hughey?

I have done a lot of genealogical research on several Hughey families, not just my own, From other US Census Reports, I know there was a younger Henry Hughey born in Noble County, Ohio, to a blacksmithing family.

I don't know if I've struck out or not. At the moment, Dr. Christopher's son seems to be a good candidate, but I've not found any further information on him.
