I have only been able to find one of my Farmer family.Hiram Farmer was a steam engineer in 1870. I would guess he worked on ships and Ferrys but, I really don't know. He was married to Emily Field, the sister of my gr-grandmother,Lydia. They had two boys in 1870: Epher was 1 year old and, Albert was 8. Looking farther, I discovered Epher in the household of Thos and Cecelia Field Wells. There is no mention of Emily, Albert or Hiram.
In 1900 Epher Farmer lived on Howard St in New London, Ct. He was an Engineer. In 1910 he is married to Lily, whose parents are from England, and they live in Rhode Island. At this point he is listed as a Screw Engineer. Then, in 1920, he is listed as a state boiler inspector and is the father of one son, Albert R. The last address I have is in Cranston, RI.
So- Hiram and Emily start off in Southold,LI with Epher and Albert and at some point Hiram, Emily and Albert fade way and leave Epher on his own.

I am not sure of dates but, I do know the Goldsmits were here very early.I also know that there were many and they used the same first names-which made research extremely difficult! I have been searching for a Ruby Goldsmith. She married Richard Miller Wood abt 1830 or so.I have been unable to find their places of birth or their family history. Henry Kirkand Wood was one of their children, and he was my gr-grandfather.

Hiram Farmer is listed as a steam engineer; married Emily Field and had two sons, Albert and Epher.In 1870, the four were still alive;in 1880 Epher(11) was living with his relatives,Thos & Celilia Wells.Epher went on to become an engineer and as late as 1920, I found him living in Cranston, RI. He was a state boiler inspector, married to Lily and had one son. Albert.
I would like to find out what happened to the rest of his family.

Edward Taylor arrived in Middletown by 1671.The first Cook I can find came from Southampton,LIwith his wife Martha Cooper.They were joined by the Nivisons, the Thompsons and others.They lived in and around Freehold/Colts Neck for many years,producing large families. In searching for the various members, I have been looking for connections between the families.On down the road, Barnard C Taylor married Leila Evetta Wood, whose mother was a Cook of a different source! Her father and family were Pound fisherman, while the Taylors bred, and sold, sheep.

These Tomkos live in Truesdale Terrace, Hanover Township, PA. Some are buried in ST Mary's Cemetery; they attended Holy Rosary Church in Ashley. I am trying to find out when they arrived in this country.

These are the basic names I am researching. All were on Long Island in the 1700s and then branched out to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Most were from Suffolk County on Long Island except the Parmelees-they went a little bit north.
I am trying to find the origins of Preserved Field and what happened to his descendants. He had three sons that I know of-Leonard, Joel and Gustavus. Joel begins my line: married Abby Goldsmith and had four girls!
They were Cecelia, Emily, Martha and Lydia (my gr grandmother). Lydia married Henry K Wood and they had five children: Charles, Jennie, Emma, Harry and Frank. Charles married Evetta Showles Cook and they had seven children: Edna, John, Jennie,Jessie,Charles,Linda and Leila.
Because there are two genetically inherited diseases in our family, we are trying to trace all those of the Field and Wood families. Emily's children would have been Farmers and Cecelia's would have been Wells.
