Bishop Family, Sussex

Hi

I have traced my Bishop line back to:

Benjamin Bishop &
Isabel Pain

They may have married 13 March 1803, Brighton, East Sussex.

There was a death for Benjamin in Brighton in 1844.

They had a son named Joseph (born abt1821) who is my 4x great grandfather.

Other children they had was:
Mary, abt 1826, Sussex
Isabella, abt 1826, Sussex
Thomas, abt 1831, Sussex.

Anyone with links to this Bishop line?

Thanks
Cat

Bishop Family

This is my Bishop family that i have come up with so far,

My great grandfather was Alfred Charles Bishop.
Alfreds mother was Edith L Bishop.
His father was unkown.

Edith Bishop was born 1888 in Ticehurst, Sussex.
Her father was Thomas, born c1844.
Her mother: Elizabeth Ann Smith, born 1849.

Thomas's father was Joseph Bishop and his mother Mary (Newick).
Joseph was born 1822. Mary born 1819.

Thomas and father were both Agriculture Labourers. (which has run through the generations!)

All the areas for this families records have been in Ticehurst, Etchingham, Saleshurst.

Anyone with links to these Bishops?

Carlton Family Research

Hi All

I have been researching my Carlton surname.
My Great Grandfather Alan Durward Carlton was born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1902. His parents were Alfred John Carlton and Fanny Louise Dudley Carlton (nee Johnston) They were both born in Melbourne, Australia. They came to NZ between 1900 and 1902 and left for Australia sometime after 1909. They had 2 other sons, Jack, born 1900, Aus, (who stayed in NZ with Alan) and Ronald who was born 1909 and returned to Australia with Alfred and Fanny.

Alfred's parents were George John Carlton and Jean Farquharson. Both George and Jean immigrated to Australia, George from Gloucestershire, England, and Jean from Dalkeith, Scotland. They married in 1859 in Victoria, Aus.

George and Jean had 5 children. (including Alfred)
They were:
Frances Elizabeth Carlton
George Farquharson Carlton
Isabella Catherine Carlton
David Stewart Carlton.

George John Carlton, born 1831 in Bristol, Gloucestershire parents were James Carlton and Frances Wagstaff. Both were born in Ireland. I have not been able to crack where in Ireland so this is my brickwall :-(

I do know that they had 3 other children
All born in Bristol.
William Carlton(disappears between census's 1851-1861 like George does)
Jane Ann Carlton,
Catherine Carlton.

All born between 1827-1833.

I have not been able to find any marriages for any of this family (including parents, maybe married in Ireland?)

Would love to hear from anyone who may be linked to anyone in this line!

Cheers
Cat

Edward Thomas KENYON & Catherine CARLTON

EDITED - Found Kenyon family, daughters never married or had children so line died out :-(

Hi

My 3x Great Aunt Catherine Carlton, ch 14 Jul 1833, Bristol, married Edward Thomas Kenyon, born 4 Feb 1834, Manchester, Lancashire, on the 23 Jul 1860 in Bristol, Gloucestershire. Edward was a clerk and Catherine was previously a schoolmistress. They lived in Lancashire. They had 2 known daughters, Jane Carlton Kenyon, ch. 5 Jul 1863, Bristol but born in Lancashire. and Kate Carlton Kenyon, born about 1867, Manchester, Lancashire. Edward and Kate immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1878 aboard the "Northumberland". Daughters Jane and Kate never married and lived their lives together (Kate became a teacher) Jane died in 1932 and Kate died in 1935. Mother Catherine died in 1915 and father Edward died in 1902. Mother Catherine seemed to adopt her maiden name for a middle name in records in Aus, but added a E to Carlton - Carleton. Same with the 2 daughters.

Family from Kent, England.

My grandfather and grandmother immigrated to New Zealand from Kent, England in 1960. I am researching their family, for anyone with links to these families you possibly have alot of family here in New Zealand that you may not have known about!

My Grandfathers family surnames were: Bishop, Chandler, Palmer. Anyone with these names in their tree? I have alot of names for the Palmers side and a few for Chandlers yet the Bishops name seems to end at my Great Grandfather.

My Grandmothers family surnames: Henwood and Harris. Their was a marriage to a Hodson and maybe a Brennan. My grandmothers Uncle married a lady named Violet Cooke. The uncles name is unknown though.

From what i have seen while researching is that their are alot of these names that circulated the Kent area, i just can't seem to get a link to the people i know! Any help would be great.
Thank you.
