Once Resident Here, Succumbs
Funeral services were conducted Thursday
morning for Charles Honl, father of Mrs. Isadore Huberty of this city, who died Monday in
Milwaukee, in St. Mary's Catholic church at Big River Falls, Wis.
Interment took place in the church cemetery
beside the remains of his wife.
Charles Honl was born July 9, 1861 in
Rothedorfe, Bohemia. At the age of 18 he
came to America first taking up his residence
in Jefferson, Wis., living there about 10
years, later living in Seattle, Wash., and
Kendall, Wis., and other points in Wisconsin
before locating in Hastings in 1912. Early
in life he followed the trade of a harnessmaker,
also doing considerable farming until
he came to this city where he was
employed at the King Midas Mill.
His marriage to Angela Jonas Brestrup
of Big River Falls took place in 1900.
After her death in this city in 1920, Mr.
Honl continued to live here until 1932
when, forced to retire from his employment
becaue of poor health, he went to
Milwaukee to make his home with his
children. Although not in good health, his
death which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Hoffman on Monday at noon was sudden
and unexpected. Death was attributed
to a paralytic stroke.
The remains were brought to this city to
the home of Mrs. Huberty and arrived here
Wednesday accompanied by his son,
Theodore Honl, his daughters, Mrs. Hoffman
and Mrs. Frank Nagel and their husbands,
all of Milwaukee.
Surviving Mr. Honl are one son,
Theodore of Milwuakee, three daughters,
Mrs. Earl Hoffman (Mary) and Mrs.
Frank Nagel (Angeline) of Milwaukee,
and Mrs. Isadore Huberty (Ophelia)
of Hastings; three stepsons, Andrew
Brestrup of Milwaukee, Fred of JErsey City,
N.J., and George, address unknown.
Also surviving are one sister, Mrs.
V.E. Arzt of Kendall and a brother
Alvin of Seattle and 17 grandchildren.
Among the relatives attending the funeral
from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. V E.
Arzt of Kendall, Theodore Honl, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Hoffman, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nagel of
Milwaukee, Mrs. Michael Rock and Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Rock and daughter
Hermina of Big River Falls.
