My husband is looking for any information about his grandfather's family. My husband grew up on the East Coast, where his grandfather moved as a young man and my husband never knew his Ngapuhi relatives. What we do know is Wiremu (the grandfather) listed his birth place as Kohukohu, and that his parents were Eru Te Whata and Repeka, nee Kaihe. Wiremu was born about 1893. Rawene comes up as a place of interest, and it is near there my husband has interests in Maori land. Wiremu lists on his marriage certificate that Eru and Repeka lived in Hokianga.
