I am seeking information on my great great grandfather, Elisha Brown. The information I have about him is that he was born in 1809 in Fairfield County, Ohio, however, I came across a census that had him as being born in 1812 in North Carolina. In 1838, he married Hannah Ricketts in Wells County, Indiana. From Indiana, they made their way to Missouri. In 1848, they left St. Joseph, Missouri, for California in a covered wagon. Elisha Brown went to the gold fields sometime after their arrival to California. The last anyone heard from him was in 1852 by a letter in which he said he would be home by spring. He never returned.

For the past 12 years I have been trying to find his parents and have had no luck. There is even someone with the same name born in Fairfield County, Ohio, who married a woman named Hannah (different last name), but it isn't him.
