Hi,. My father was Francis Joseph White b. 1924 in Albert St Preston Lancs UK his father was Henry White b. 1898 in Leeming St, Avenham Preston ( Lemming st is now called Manchester rd) Henry's wife was Margaret Alice Cowell b.1901. They were both married in 1921 in Preston. Henry was the youngest member of the family. His siblings were John b.1881 Leicester, William b.1884 (Sailor) Leicester, Elizabeth b 1886, Loughborough, Ellen b.1890 Leicester, Honorah b.1892(Nun) Preston, Mary 1896 Preston. Thomas Henry their father was an umbrella repairer. on the 1901 census it states he was born in Lambeth Surrey, but the 1911 census states he was born in Boston USA. My grandfather Henry told my father Frank that his father was born in the states. The family addresses they lived at are Willow St, Leeming St, Aughton Sq, Park st Albert St and Spring Gardens all in the avenham district. Of Preston UK The Children all went to St Augustines School. My father lived in Turner St and Sussex St in St Ignatius parish. after the family left Leicester in 1890/91 they lived in Rochdale Lancs UK for a short time in St John,s Parish before moving to Preston.

I have searched high and low for them all on the census before 1901 but no joy.

hope there is a connection. there was a John and Mary White on the 1880 census living in 19 Willow st Preston. Thomas Henry lived at 21 Willow st, circa 1891, Strange thing is, in the St, Augustines school records the Gaurdian for Elizabeth, Honorah and Ellen is given as William, This could not be their brother William because he would be only 10 at the time. John White b.1880 had a son Willam (Billy) he had a terrible limp due to his granmother Elizabeth falling on him. He was my father's (Frank) Cousin.
