Looking for info on Edward George Madden of Belfast b. 1841 d. 12 Jul 1885 and his wife, Sarah Jane Herald
I'm trying to find out about my Great Grandparents, Edward George Madden and his wife, Sarah Jane Herald. They had 7 children who ended up in an orphanage. They were R.C. So I've heard they probably would have gone to Nazareth Lodge/ House. I know that Edward died in 1885 by falling off his roof while cutting an orange arch that was tied to his chimney. In newspaper articles (and there were many) it was estimated there were 3000 people that followed the funeral cortège to Milltown Cemetery. The newspapers also said he left a widow and 7 children. He lived at 83 Wall St.
Sarah was married to Edward George Madden. He was born in 1847. They lived on Wall St. In Belfast. He died cutting an orange arch off his chimney. He fell off his roof and fractured his skull. That was 12 July 1885. Sarah was left a widow with 7 children. It's estimated that 3000 people followed the funeral cortège to Milltown Cemetery. My Grandfather was 3 at the time. He and his siblings were in a R.C. Orphanage. My Grandfather came to America in 1904. I don't believe all the siblings came over. Edward was a year older and Robert (I think) was a year younger.
I don't know what happened to Sarah to make the kids orphans. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it very much.
Also who were her parents and also who were his parents?
I'm looking for the ancestors of Matilda Lee. She was born 1814 and married Harden Weatherford. They are my 3x's Great Grandparents. Their daughter was P. Anna Weatherford who married Theodore Lyman Alden. The parents of Matilda are not definite for me yet. I feel more than not that what I have is right, but I want to see if anybody has definite sources to prove it.
I'm also trying to definitely find my Weatherford line. I have more on them than the Lee's but I need positive proof again.
Thanks so much!
