Ferdinand Frederick NIEMANN or NEUMANN

searching for when my great great grandfather came out to New zealand settled & died in Nelson NZ.
I have fruitlessly searched for him coming out to NZ on a ship from Germany but haven't found anything.
Ferdinand Frederick Niemann or could be spelt Neumann born 1826 Germany married Nelson 1855 to Mary PRITCHARD died Nelson 1880.
Now I believe he may of gone to South Australia as in 1859 in the South Australian Gazette Natralisation that name appears as Neumann.
so how do I go about trying to search the shipping records from there to Nelson NZ.
