I need some help. I am really struggling to find out who my paternal grandmother was. Her name was Ailsa Lynette Leahy, born 29/12/1936. I can't find anything on her, i can't apply for her death certificate because i am a grandchild and she has children still alive. That, and she was a real peice of work, using fake names and never registering to vote, moving around alot. I can't apply for her birth certificate because i can't prove she is dead, nor am i her child.

I believe she was born in Victoria, though i am unsure. I know she was a ward of state for a while. She had my father at age 16.

I believe she married a man called Laurence McKenzie in 1954/55, a man named Gerald Croucher sometime in the 60's.

I seem to hit brick walls everywhere i look. The only thing i have found on her is an old newspaper article from around 1948, saying she was found roaming the streets in Melbourne.

My goal is to find out about her and find out who her parents where, so i can research my Leahy line back to Ireland...hopefully.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
