Great Grandfather Garrett Freeman stated on his US WWI draft card that he was born in 1892 and was from Abbeville County. I am just trying to locate family members who can tell me more about my family. I am Garrett's son Garrett, Jr granddaughter. Garrett and his first wife Marie Capers are my maternal great grandparents. Any information that anyone can provide would be greatly appericated.
Great Grandfather- Garrett Freeman, Sr.-Abbeville County SC 1892
Great Grandmother- Marie Capers- Hartsville, South Carolina
Grandfather- Garrett Freeman,Jr- South Carolina 1923
New York death:1965
Grandfather's sister- Christine Freeman Bull- South Carolina
All deceased, no futher information all the photos my family had of my grandfather were destoryed in the house fire.
I am researching my grandfather's family(on my mother's side) but all we have is his and his father's name possible where they could have originally lived and were he was believed to have pass away at. Where do I begin with my research?
I have made family charts and have interviewed my ailing grandmother his wife but being that she has dementia; it's hard to tell what information is accurate. My grandfather passed away when my mother was two years old and finding out more about her father's family would bring some peace to her heart and our family. My grandfather had one sister but she has passed away as well and her children don't remember much about her. If anyone can provide us with any assistance on this enduring but well worth it all reseach journey we all would greatly appreciated it.
