Juanmay on Family Tree Circles
First generation on my father's side, 3rd generation on my mother's side. On both sides, my ancestors were artisans and trades people.
At the age of 4 years, my father, Lionel Albert, emigrated from England to Australia. He travelled on board the "Perthshire" with his parents and 2 siblings in 1912. Dad's father, Samuel Albert Mayell, descended from a line of stone masons. He came to Australia specifically to work for Frank Williams in Ipswich. Frank Williams had a high reputation as a monumental stone mason. My mother's grandfather, Alexander Munro, emigrated from Scotland to Australia on board the ship "Theresa" in 1962. He had trained as a horticulturalist at Dunrobin Castle on the Duke of Sutherland's estate in Scotland. He eventually became the curator of Queens Park in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.
I am proud of my antecedents and feel privileged to be able to research their beginnings.
