G?ma Adams was a cousin to Mark Hopkins. G?ma Adams father?s first wife was Lucy Jane Kingsley, whose bloodline goes back to Stephen Hopkins, May flower passenger. So g?ma Adams was only a cousin-in-law. G?ma Adams was Sarah Hopkins ?hired girl? for a year at age 18. Sarah?s maiden name was Keeney. Mary Anne Keeney, I believe was Sarah?s mother. Have a picture somewhere that may confirm this.

George Colburn Adams married Mary Maria Comings on October 31, 1906 at the Comings Farm in Galesburg, Mich.

The spoon dated October 30 1905 was her gift from him on their engagement. Now a well kept secret comes out, your dad and were married by a judge in Chicago on October 30 1931 but we knew G?ma Adams wanted it October 31 like hers ? sooo- we appeared together the night after our marriage all dressed up and said to her ?We were just married? I guess I broke her heart because it wasn?t done in a church. Neither your dad nor I wanted any fanfare.

The spoon from ?Nellie? may have been a wedding gift heirloom from Nellie Fox Adams, known as Aunt Nellie. She was the mother of Russell Adams. His father was Will Adams, believed lost when the Eastland Disaster occurred. Will Adams was brother of your g?pa George C. and your Great aunt ? Elizabeth Moentz Van Ness. Therefore ?Nellie? was your great aunt also.

Your g?g grandmother was Emma Mills Comings; her mother was Emily Root Mills. The Mills family has 12 children and lived next farm to the Comings? farm.

The Comings Farm was 2 miles from center of Galesburg in Comstock Township. G?ma Adams was born at this farm and at time heir to (1) acre of the property. This was sold for $1,000 when G?ma was 23 years old, to pay for her teaching certificate and supplies. She taught 3rd grade for 2 or 3 years.

G?pa Adams? father (George Rodney Crittenden Adams) owned a farm in Comstock. He was born in their farm home. At that time Geo.R.C. Adams was Postmaster for Comstock, Michigan. G?pa Adams? mother was Ida Adams (Holden).

Your Adams line goes back to Charlemagne and G?pa Adams? great great grandfather was Samuel Adams. We do not descend from John Adams line. Your Uncle Bill Adams has an original desk handed down from Samuel who got it from Stephen Hopkins.

Material from phone call with your dad and I do not have his army serial number. It can be checked with Veterans Administration Personnel Records dept, Wash.D.C. Or ask him. H e was attached to the 34th Medical Administration Corps during the WWII.
