McLean's from NE Scotland
There are a couple of McLeans that are eluding me in my search. My furthest back is my 4G grandfather Donald McLean, born in Rosemarkie around 1808. He may have had a brother called Duncan. He was a soldier who died in Ireland in 1846.
The next sticking point is My 2G grandfather James Shand McLean (b1851). The family story is that he migrated to the USA in the 1890's with the intent of finding work & them getting his family to follow - but he appears to have disappeared at this point.
More recently is my G Grandfather John Shand McLean (b1887). He and my G Grandmother didn't marry and we have no idea if there is another family to find. He too supposedly went to the USA around 1910.
Any ideas gratefully recieved!!

North East Scotland - a variety of names McLean, Morgan, Shand etc
Most of the family I've found to date lived around the North East of Scotland. I have little bursts of activity where another name or two gets added to the list. Most recently I've added the name Anton - not sure what it's origins are. Always happy to share info
