I had traced the West family along my maternal grandmother's line whose maiden name was Eliza Maycock. Her grandmother was Hannah West who married John Maycock. Hannah's forbears took me up to Robert. I was folowing his line using info obtained from other researchers on the Ancestry.com.uk website. A couple of these showed that Robert was the son of Robert West who was married to Elizabeth Coks and that this Robert was the son of Thomas West 2nd Lord de la Warr and Lady Anne Knollys. This sent me off on a very exciting series of discoveries but unfortunately I have recently found that Robert and Elizabeth did not produce a son. I was quite disappointed as I had spent months pursuing this line, however, I would like to see if Robert of 1590 was descended from the West/De la Warr family but from a separate branch of that family. Probably a forlorn hope but if anyone has any info on this I would be grateful to receive it.
