My direct ancestor in Nova Scotia, was James McCara,(McCarra)
He had a brother Andrew who is buried in Durham NS. James apparently was married to Mary Foreman, and I've seen claims that they had three children, but know of only John settling in NS. The original grant from the crown seems to have been at MacAra's Brook,(McCara's Brook) in Merigomish NS, but James purchased land from John Pagan in The Roger's hill area and settled there in the 1890's. He was joined by his brother Andrew from Philadelphia who died around 1832. Any information would be helpful as there seems to be some contradictory, or misleading information online.
