Researching Irish family history for my webisode #8 of my series "By Her Roots" part one on Rootstelevison.com and my youtube channel which leads into Part Two which will be based in Ireland.
Charles G. hayes was said to be from Dublin. Immigrated to Canada around 1884 died in Toronto Ontario 1926. Married Ada May Williams of England. Children Charles, Stanley, Norman Ann. A Dublin researcher has checked all the Charles Hayes he could find in Dublin and followed their history but no Charles G. Am looking now in Cork as have been told large concentration there.
First shows up in Halifax Nova Scotia in 1749. Rumored to be in regiment of foot and from Galway. I Have put the majority of my research in my series "By Her Roots" Part One "The search for Peter Martin" for Rootstelevison.com and on my youtube channel. #7 webisode is on the Peter Martin record I found in the Fortress of Louisbourg. A researcher is looking now for more on this man. PRO in england says has no more info.
the Galway Martins of Ballanahinch Castle heritage have no records of him.
Am reviving my Co of Wexford research for webisode #8 of Part One of my series "By Her Roots" for Rootstelevison.com and my youtube channel which will lead me to Part Two in Ireland.
William Johnson b 1760 with son Lawrence b 1792 and Andrew Scallion b 1790 all from County of Wexford show up in Nova Scotia buying land in 1802 just after the 1798 rebellion. Were they rebels or loyalists and what all were they escaping. Have not found any records of anyone else arriving with them just William and the two boys but Andrew's parents were listed on his marriage record as Joseph Scallion and Margaret Doyle.
My researcher in Dublin found only one marriage record for a Joseph Scallion and Margaret Doyle dated 1783 at the Cross of Ballysheen in parish of Carne Co of Wexford. their 5 children were born and/or baptized there or Butlerstown parish of St Ibers. One was born in 1790 but his name was William. If he came alone with William Johnson and his son Lawrence maybe he changed his name to his middle name to lessen confusion? Am researching all wexford church ruins in these areas.
Rootstelevison.com is devoted to showcasing genealogy videos and is international in it's scope and coverage. The two women who started this were the creators of the "Ancestors" series for PBS. Most recently they tested Roots author Alex Haley's nephew and found he had Scottish ancestry.
Megan has also been instrumental in uncovering the truth and setting the record straight about Annie Moore the first person to pass through Ellis Island, New York.
My series By Her Roots is featured in webisodes. The first seven webisodes is on my search for my ancestor Peter Martin's roots (c1749) in Nova Scotia. One more webisode to go and I am editing it right now. Hope you join us over there..Alannah Ryane
