Looking for James Martine Kershaw/aka James Martine Provost

My g-grandfather was originally born James Martine Provost in New York. He then met an only child and in order to marry her, the father said he had to change his last name to Kershaw. However, she married someone else after he changed his last name!

He married a young lady from Scotland by the name of Margaret Ellen Wilson in approximately 1845.

Looking for ancestors of Anna GUST

Anna Gust was from Germany. She was born in 1842 and died in 1872.
She married Benheldt Feldkamp who also was from Prussia. They had four children. B. Feldkamp was born in 1830 and died in 1881. He remarried after Anna's death. His second wife was Augusta Treab.

They lived in Jasper County, Illinois near the town of Montrose, Illinois.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone concerning the ancestors of Anna and Benheldt Feldkamp.

Looking for PROVOST of New York

My g-grandfather changed his surname as a young man in order to marry a young lady who had four sisters and no brothers to carry on the KERSHAW name. I have found info on him under the Kershaw name. His daughter, named her first son Martine Kershaw; another son, my dad, William Provost; another, John Todd and the last son, Edward Cabbell.
All the middle names were "family" names.

I did find a census report from 1830 with a "James Martine Provost" who was 8 years old; however, nothing more until 1840 and then he was under the new name he assumed...James Martine Kershaw.

If anyone has heard of a James Martine .... changing his name for a young lady, I would be interested. By the way, the young lady married someone else after he changed his name!
