My grandmother

I am looking for information on my grandmother,"Effie Willie May Simmons" She was born,May 30,1904 in Graymont,(Now known as Twin City) Emanuel County Georgia. She was born to a Will and Unknown mother Simmons..Both her parents were born abt 1880.Mother Simmons died abt 1904.Will Simmons died abt 1905.My grandmother was Native American.I found her in the 1910 Census in Emanuel County living with a Tom Mills and Lela Miles .Effie was listed as a daughter. This is not correct.I also found her in the 1920 census, still living with the Mills family, but she was listed as a boarder. She is also listed as being white. In 1930 I find her again. This was after she married my grandfather,Also, (Native American) Perry S Coulter. But he is not listed. She was listed as Head of house hold. The name was spelled "Colton" she was living with Elliot age 8 ,and Corine, age 5.Effie's children (my aunt and uncle)There is also someone by the name of Agnes Charis,or Chavis listed as a roomer.

I was told, after my grandfather died in Jan,20,1938 in Georgia State Prison,My grandmother remarried a man by the name of "James William Sowell" I can't find anything about this marriage.I was told that Effie and James Sowell had a daughter. My grandmother died giving birth to this child.Effie died ,April 27,1939.

My Aunt and Uncle are now in there 80's (Elliot and Corine) Both are still living in Gerogia. Both know that we are Native Americans. They have no problems what so ever telling the family that, but when it comes to important matters, like finding the information that proves we are,They both clam-up.They refuse to give us that.I have been looking for answers for a very long time.We have every right to know what our heritage is.I am so tired of hearing that the elders will not talk. Its not just about them anymore. It's about us now. Please,if anyone can help me with this matter I would be most grateful...
