The DeGrace real name is DiGraci, they were from Burgio Sicily, Antiono came though Ellis Island when he was 19 years of age. He married Angelina Tortorice or Tortorici who came though Ellis Island in 1898. Her father was Nicola Tortorici and her mother was Giuseppa Radosta which then the wifes use their madian names. He work on the railroad and went to Bywater,Orleans,Louisiana. They all move to Illinois where they had three children Mary,Philip and Nick Antonio was a coalminer and later they move to Kansas City Missouri. Antonio died of the flu in 1918. WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOUR FAMILY WAS FROM BURGIO,PALERMO,SICILY. MOST ALL OF THE FAMILY CAME TO NEW YORK AND THEN TRAVEL WHERE THERE WAS WORK. MY AUNT SAID THEY CAME TO AMERICA BECAUSE THEY HEARD THE STREETS WERE PAVED WITH GOLD...BUT WHEN THEY GOT THERE THEY WEREN'T PAVED AT ALL;THEY WERE EXPECTED TO PAVE THEM. my grandmother angelina tortorici came though ellis island at the age six in 1898. she was with her sister anna and mother joesphine. they were to meet their father nicola came over first to find a job with the railroad. they were from burgio,sicily,italy. they left new york and went to bywater,new orleans. they open a mom and pop grocery store and my grandmother pick cotton. at age fifteen she was the coalminer clothes to earn money and met my grandfather antonio who was a coalminer and love to gamble. they married in independence kansas. then they went to johnston city ill. and had three children mary born 1908, philip born in 1909 and nick born in 1913. they came to kansas city in 1917 and antonio digraci died of the flu. left with three children angelina married her first cousin jack radosta or rodosta. they had two daughters anita and joesphine.
