Fifteen years ago I started family history and in the last five years so much information has become available, it is worthwhile rereading and rechecking your information. the subject of women not being named on historical file is a big bone of contention, even modern historians forget to give their female relatives their maiden names using only their married names and yet it is one of the most helpful ways of knowing you are following the correct line, it really becomes easier when the female maiden name is introduced to the childrens line.

I have been researching McKittrick, McKitterick family and I have come to a brick wall with William McKittrick, I cannot find his birth, or marriage, he died in 1870 aged 64 making his birth approx 1806. He probably was born in Ireland in Co Down, he died in Dundonald, Co. Down, his father was probably John McKittrick but I have no evidence to support this, if any one is researching McKittrick in Down I would be pleased to hear from them.

David McKittrick born circa 1848 son of William McKittrick and ? in Co. Down, address on Marriage Carrowreagh, Dundonald, Co. Down.1901 and 1911 Census puts birth in Co. Down.


William McKittrick b approx 1806 and died in Dunlady, Dundonald in 1870 he was 64, married unknown ? about 1824 according to his will he had Sons:- John b 1838, James b 1828, David b 1848 and daughter Eliza 1837, Eliza m John Burke and she is named on the death certificate as the informant of William's death and grandson William McKittrick also mentioned in the will,

Mckittrick may be spelled McKitterick or McKitrick

Matthew Nesbitt son of James Nesbitt and unknown born about 1834-1837 Co. Down? married Sarah Gray 1854 Co. Antrim had son Edward born about 1860 died in Down 1916,Edward married Mary Anne McKeown b abt 1862 dau of Patrick McKeown in 1881 possible mother Mary Ann Cranston, any information would help
