As the daughter of a History Major, Mom, and a Military History Buff, Dad, my sister's and I didn't have much of a choice but to be a part of it all. From books sitting on the coffee table to dinner conversation to vacation trips that explored the south we were immersed in what happened before we were born.
I have always loved History and it wasn't a far stretch to get into Genealogy. A cousin who at just a few years older than myself and living in the same city invited me to a family reunion and the rest is HISTORY. That was the beginning of my adventures into genealogy. Her family knew about mine but I didn't know about her at all. We didn't really talk about other family, aka the ones I didn't know and mostly about my Dad's family. Although many of us still live in the same general area or at least still in the same state, it all came as a big surprise to me.
That was 17 years ago and one of the best things to have happened to me was offering to help. She is still my genealogy partner but we know so much more than we did then. The reunion was a HUGH hit and we are working still on others.
I'm still working on my DAR papers among other things but there is always another puzzle to solve, another clue to follow and more history to uncover. Still chasing my history and not planning to stop anytime soon. Want to come along for the ride?
